My Tuareg friends in Niamey always wore their long cloth turbans to keep the Saharan sand away from their faces and the sun off their heads. Their long flowing robes were loose on purpose to sheiled them from the heat as well, but were loose to also keep the air flowing around them. They lived in the city to be able to make a living for their families and communities but preferred their life in the desert, under the stars.
