This was the gathering of a life time, over 300 Village Chiefs from Cote d’Ivoire and Ghana came together for the investiture ceremony of the new village chief, because he was from the home town of the wife of President Lawrence Gbagbo of Cote d’Ivoire. There were magic men, mace bearers, hundreds of village chiefs with gold leaf covered ornaments, jewelry and walking sticks, drummers and dancers. The printmaking medium of collagraph provided the perfect medium to capture the rich graphic quality of African clothing embossing the textures right into the paper.
